Ningo Prampram Lawmaker Samuel Nartey George has said the security must invite Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, one of the parliamentary aspirants for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, who was seen spraying money at a crowd during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday, May 13 at Ejura Sekyedumase, in the Ashanti Region.
Sam George described her action as despicable and one that the NDC denounces.
“Anybody who engaged in that kind of open ostentatious vote buying like the lady should be invited by the security service and be investigated. It is a despicable act and as a party, we denounce such behavior.
“Our flagbearer John Mahama held a press encounter at the UPSA on political financing and spoke about the need for us to have decent politicking and vote buying is the bane of our politics,” he said on the Big Issue on TV3 Tuesday, May 16.
Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has said it is investigating the conduct the Ms Kinang-Wassan.
The OSP said it considered her as a person necessary for investigation.
“You are directed to attend the Office of the Special Prosecutor at 6 Haile Selassie Avenue, South Ridge, Accra on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10 am for interviewing.
“You may be accompanied by counsel of your choice,” a letter from the OSP said.
The Police also said that they were assessing the conduct of the aspirant
“A dedicated legal team is currently scrutinising her conduct in the video to establish whether there are elements of election-related crime to warrant Police intervention or otherwise,” the Police said in a statement.
