The Multimedia Group Limited has denied allegations that its journalist, Evans Mensah influenced the editorial output of the company in favour of energy firm Aker Energy GH Limited.
In response to a publication by The Herald newspaper which contained the allegation, MGL said its preliminary probe of the allegation shows that while Evans Mensah’s company, Excomsult Media provides consultancy services for Aker Energy, which relationship is known to Multimedia Group, he could not have influenced what is published on MGL platforms.
“As indicated earlier, Mr. Mensah’s association with Aker Energy Gh. Ltd had been declared to management of Joy FM to avoid conflict of interest situations. Mr. Mensah is a member of a professional editorial team, guided by Joy FM’s Editorial Policy; as such, he cannot suppress information. There is no evidence that the editorial output during the period has been influenced by Mr. Mensah to favour Aker Energy Gh. Ltd. Over the period, there has been extensive coverage of stories on Aker Energy Gh. Ltd on our programmes and platforms, including digital media, that have involved CSOs and other critical voices.”
