Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security Palgrave Frimpong Boakye-Danquah has mounted a strong defence of the current government in the management of the economy.
He said government has not blamed anyone for the current state of the economy but only concerned with the impact of factors such as Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war in 2022.
Speaking on 3FM‘s Sunrise last week, Mr Boakye-Danquah said the economy has been handled “very well” by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his Vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
“This government of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Alhjai Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has managed this economy very well,” he insisted, stressing on the 30 percent increment in salaries of public sector workers and the increase in pensions by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) this year.
He reminded all how government has cut down on the number of ministers by, for instance, shedding all the 16 regions of deputy ministers.
“The real issues is that government is being prudent with the effective management of the resource Ghanaian people have given to us and the resource we have also been able to acquire through our own innovative ideas.”
Mr Boakye-Danquah has set his sights on contesting for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries in Abuakwa North Constituency in February, 2024.
He said he wants to serve the people of Abuakwa North as he is sure Dr Mahamudu Bawumia will lead the NPP to election triumph next year.
“I throw my support very confidently behind Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and I wish him the best that he wins and I am certain that he will be able to take this country further from Nana Akufo-Addo,” he stated.
