The Chairman of the Hajj Board, Ben Abdallah, together with some board members and secretarial staff, on Friday called on the Northern Regional Imam Alhaji Ahmed Abdul Salam to brief him on Hajj preparations so far, and also seek his prayers ahead of the first Hajj flight from Ghana to Saudi Arabia, which took off from Tamale on Friday.
Before the visit to the Regional Imam, Ben Abdallah and his delegation first called on the Northern Region Minister, Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, to also brief him ahead of the first flight.
After the meeting, the regional minister accompanied the Hajj Board delegation to the Regional Imam, who advised the board and also prayed for a successful Hajj this year.
The Board Chairman also requested for special prayers for the President and his Vice, as well for the country as a whole.
While some of the board members are already in Saudi Arabia as advance team members to receive Ghanaian pilgrims, the Board Chairman and other team members are also in Tamale to ensure the smooth take-off of all scheduled flights in Tamale for pilgrims from the northern part of the country.
Flights from Accra to airlift pilgrims from the southern part of the country are expected to commence next weekend.
