Ghanaian champions Medeama set for October friendly in USA

Medeama will in October travel to the United States where they will face Major League Soccer club DC United in a friendly. 

The match is scheduled for October 14 at Audi Field, a venue confirmed by DC United on Tuesday. Ticket prices for the match have been unveiled and can be found on their official website.

“D.C. United are thrilled to bring another storied and well-followed international club to our home of Audi Field and to our local community of Washington, D.C.,” said Danita Johnson, President of Business Operations, D.C. United.

“Soccer is a global sport, and this matchup against a historic Ghanaian club like Medeama SC will help us further grow the game in our region and provide another diverse experience for our fanbase.”

The friendly match is a notable component of Ghana Week DC, an event that aims to strengthen unity and collaboration between Ghana and the USA, fostering connections and camaraderie.

Mr Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority, expressed his enthusiasm, noting, “Together, we celebrate culture, forge lasting connections, and ignite a new era of international camaraderie.”

The Ghanaian champions, currently preparing for CAF Champions League clash against Remo Stars, are excited about the friendly, recognising its potential to enhance their brand and visibility on the global stage.

D.C. United, one of the founding clubs of Major League Soccer in 1996, boasts an impressive record with 13 domestic and international trophies, including four MLS Cups, four Supporters’ Shields, and three Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cups.
