The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared former Deputy National Youth Organiser Eric Edem Agbana as winner of Saturday’s parliamentary primaries in the Ketu North Constituency in the Volta Region.
The resolution was reached on Tuesday, May 16 after a special committee set up by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the party.
There was a tie between Mr Agbana and John Kwabla Adanu in Saturday’s primaries, contested by eight aspirants.
Both candidates, however, went to town jubilating but the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) insisted that it was a tie of 359 votes apiece.
However, Mr Agbana had expressed fury about the development, declaring himself winner and reported to be trading words against his close contender.
On Tuesday, he apologised for the use of any “unpalatable” words.
“Let me also thank my opponents, especialy Mr John Adani and his team of lawyers for being a part of the meeting and to say that I want to retract and apologise sincerely for some comments made in the heat of the moment.
“As we all know, when the tensions were high, we granted some interviews and said ertain things that we consider unpalatable.”
He promised to secure not less than 85 percent of votes in 2024 for the NDC.
