The US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, has talked up the “strong” partnership between Ghana and the United States of America (USA), expressing confidence that it will go from strength to strength.
She described the bilateral relation between the two countries as “close”.
Ambassador Palmer disclosed these on TV3 on Tuesday, July 4 as the US celebrated its 247th independence anniversary.
“Ghana is a strong partner of the United States and it is a partnership that we really value,” she told host Berla Mundi.
“I see that go from strength to strength in terms of working together on National Security issues, working in the UN Security Council, watching Ghana’s leadership in West Arica to prevent democracy backsliding and as Ghana faces tough economic times, the United States is standing very strongly with Ghana.”
She further described the relationship as mutual and “if we do the relationship right we’re going to create jobs and prosperity and security in both countries”.
She said the US is bent on helping with inclusive economic growth in Ghana, especially in the north with the investment of millions of Dollars.
Ambassador Palmer also lauded Ghana’s efforts in fighting Covid-19.
“I just love it. I am struck watching President Joe Biden’s inauguration and they were still masked. Last year, we had pulled down the July 4 party because of Covid, so I am so happy that Ghana has managed Covid so well, that partnership is strong and I am happy to be able to celebrate with our friends this year.”
