Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akanbi claims that STARTIMES, the official broadcaster of the Ghana Premier League, lacks quality cameras to capture crucial moments in matches such as his team’s goal against Kotoko last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians won a tense battle in which three league points and the President’s Cup trophy were at stake thanks to a 57th-minute header by Konadu Yiadom.
The centre-back jumped to connect Linda Mtange’s cross from a contentious free-kick, propelling Hearts to fourth place on the league table.
In response to Kotoko fans’ complaints that Yiadom should have been flagged offside, Alhaji Akanbi reportedly told Service radio in Sunyani that, except for Startimes’ subpar production, the goal was clean.
“Even as at the time that our player [Linda Mtange] was about to kick the ball, the camera was on him but if they [StarTimes] had good cameras they should have been able to capture the time he was about to kick the ball and look at the arrangement whether there were any movements.”
“Like I said this is a challenge for all of us but it was a clear goal and no one can convince me that it was an off-side goal”, he added.
