Ghanaian rapper, Kweku Flick has detailed how he kick-started his music career with a stroke of luck and genius.
In a recent interview on TV3’s New Day Eid-UL-aDHA edition, the rising star revealed that in 2019, he used his winnings from a bet to fund the recording of his very first project.
Recalling the circumstances, the ‘Money’ hitmaker mentioned that he was facing financial constraints at the time but in his determination to pursue his musical aspirations, he took a chance and placed a bet which won him 300 Ghana Cedis.
“I think it was 2019, I didn’t have anything on me so I just called Appiah, S/o to the producer who produced Awake, I called him and he said I should come to the studio,” he recounted “And I didn’t have any money for transportation so I just placed the bet and I won 300 Ghana Cedis for the first one.”
Encouraged by his initial success, he placed another bet and won an additional 300 Cedis, totalling 600 Cedis.
“And the second one was another 300 so that was 600 which help me to release two songs,” he shared
The track he recorded became the popular “Awake” single that brought him into the limelight and has earned him several accolades as well as financial success.
“I didn’t have any management then so I just released it. I don’t have million dollars now but I’m okay,” he pointed out.
