23 students from 3 tertiary institutions in the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency in Accra have donated a sum of GH¢1,850 to Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo’s second bid to parliament.

The ladies who are students of the University of Ghana, Legon, University of Professional Studies, Accra and the Knustford University made an official presentation to Mr Dumelo at a brief ceremony in his office on Tuesday, March 14.

In a post on Twitter, the award winning actor and entrepreneur said he was humbled by the gesture and beckoned the electorates to make the Awayaso West Wuogon constituency great again.

“Was humbled to receive the leader of 23 ladies who contributed a total of 1,850gh towards my campaign. The ladies( who are friends) are students from Legon, Knustford and UPSA. Im truly grateful. Together let’s make Awayaso West great again! #2ndcoming #JD2024” he tweeted.

John Dumelo, 39, an alumni of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology made history in the 2020 elections when he closed the gap between the National Democratic Congress and the ruling New Patriotic Party who won with a little over 2,000 votes.

His performance has been touted by political pundits who perceive him doing better if he runs again in the next general elections.

However, before he gets the opportunity to contest again he needs to get the nod from his party delegates in their upcoming primaries.

The process which is currently in progress has seen him come head to head with best man and friend of 20 years, Fred Nuamah who is also contesting for the slot; a move The Baby Thief actor has described as a ‘stab in the back’.
