Ace Anan Ankomah, counsel for highlife musician Rex Owusu Marfo, popularly known as Rex Omar, has written a strongly-worded letter to his colleague musician Akosua Agyapong, calling for her to publicly retract the allegations and issue an unqualified apology within 14 days.
The letter, dated 20th June 2023, was issued by the prestigious law firm Bentsi-Enchill, Letsa & Ankomah.
It firmly addresses the serious accusations made by Akosua Agyapong against Rex Omar and highlights the consequences of her actions on his hard-earned reputation.
In the letter, Ankomah asserts that Akosua Agyapong has repeatedly accused Rex Omar of stealing funds belonging to the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), an organization for which he has served as Board Chairman since 2017.
These accusations were made without any substantiation or lawful justification. Ankomah points out instances where Akosua Agyapong made defamatory remarks during interviews on television and social media platforms.
The letter highlights specific incidents, including an interview on a television program called “Time with the Stars” in Twi, where Akosua Agyapong stated that Rex Omar and certain GHAMRO executives were embezzling funds.
Another interview on Onua TV with One Captain Smart, posted on YouTube, contained similar false allegations against Rex Omar and GHAMRO executives.
Furthermore, during an interview on Power FM on 25th May 2023, Akosua Agyapong repeatedly referred to Rex Omar as a thief, accusing him of stealing GHAMRO funds.
She also falsely alleged that Rex Omar had stolen items belonging to his brother-in-law, without providing any lawful justification or evidence.
