Youtuber, Darkman Kpakpo has said that Nigerian creatives have upped their game and this is having a tow in the Ghanaian space.
The YouTuber commended Nigerian artistes for investing in their careers and highlighted the effect of the Ghanaian mentality on always wanting to save up.
“Nigerians seem to invest a lot more than Ghanaians do and it reflects in so many things: the quality of their videos, how they approach things generally. However, with Ghanaians, it’s always about minimizing costs and keeping some money to handle other things. I think a lot of that ends up hindering how good certain things can turn out; not just music videos, content creation in general,” he indicated.
In furtherance of his comparison, Darkman Kpakpo stated that most Ghanaian content creators have stopped collaborating and it is going against them.
“If you are looking for more content and away from music, Nigerians really love to collaborate. Ghanaians content creators are different. They are in their own space doing their own thing and not ready to reach out though they used to do that. So, it is not like we’re on different playing fields; we are all in Africa. We practically have just about the same circumstances but they do way more than we do,” he indicated.
Darkman Kpakpo also expressed his dislike of the behaviour of some Ghanaians who “want you to blow up first before they come and support” adding the fact that “It is not about your potential”.
In a conversation with King Kwaku Mensa on Showbiz University, a podcast platform, the YouTuber advised creatives to, “have a plan, it may not work but it’ll show you what works and what doesn’t. It is a creative process, you’re not always going to get everything right.
Be confident in yourself and your ability to create whatever you are creating. Make sure to take advice from people. It is really essential. You never know who is watching.”
