Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said the outcome of the New Patriotic Party’s Super Delegates’ Conference was satisfactory.
However, he expressed displeasure with how some of the candidates have acted in the aftermath of the elections.
Speaking on GhanAkoma morning show with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin on Akoma FM in Kumasi, Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said he is generally satisfied with the outcome of the first round of his party’s presidential primary.
He admitted that though there were some infractions during the election, generally delegates and party members comported themselves.
There have been allegations of intimidation, attacks, and vote-buying made by some of the candidates.
The polls returned with a resounding victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, with Kennedy Ohene Agyapong placing second and Alan Kyerematen securing the third place.
Some persons related to other candidates have made comments suggesting that the polls were manipulated at some centers.
However, the Member of Parliament for Suame, who supports Dr. Bawumia, says attempts by some of the candidates to taint the victory of Dr. Bawumia will not succeed.
“We all hear what is coming out with some people accusing some of the aspirants of trying to manipulate the elections even though every objective person will realise that to a very large extent this was a very keenly contested election and that freeness and fairness can be attested to.”
The party is expected to elect the 2024 flagbearer on Saturday, November 4.
