The Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) has dismissed reports that some staff recruited for the 2020 elections have still not been paid.
The Commission says such persons or groups of persons do not exist.
It, therefore, asked the public to ignore such reports.
“As always, it is an attempt to malign and impugn on the integrity of the EC. It will not succeed.
“We wish to state that any persons or groups of persons claiming non-payment by the Commission for work done during the 2020 elections do not exist.
“They are ghosts,” concluded a statement issued by the Commission on Friday, February 24.
It comes in the wake of allegations by the former Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, in Parliament that some 200,000 field staff are yet to receive their payments from the Commission for work done in 2020.
“This is false,” the Commission minced no words.
“The EC has to date paid all staff who worked during the 2020 elections.”
It further indicated that a new system of payment through bank accounts instead of cash was even instituted in an effort to ensure transparency and accountability.
It said an opportunity was given to all who had wrong details to re-submit correct account numbers in 2021 and they have all been settled.
“The records to this effect are available.”
