Boxing legend Azumah Nelson celebrated as he turns 65

Known as “The Professor” for his ring intelligence and skills, Azumah Nelson is widely regarded as one of the greatest African boxers of all time.

Azumah Nelson had a remarkable career, earning himself a reputation as a dominant force in the sport. From 1984 to 1987, he held the WBC featherweight title, and from 1988 to 1997, he held the WBC super-featherweight title twice.

His prowess inside the boxing ring made him a household name, not just in Ghana, his home country, but also across the globe.

With an impressive boxing record of 47 fights, Azumah Nelson emerged victorious in 39 of them, an astounding 27 of those wins coming by knockout. While he faced challenges in six losses and two draws, his tenacity and determination were always evident in every bout he fought.
