Davido speaks up for the first time since the death of his son, Ifeanyi

Nigerian singer and producer, Davido has made his first statement following the death of his three-year-old son, Ifeanyi Adeleke in October of 2022.

The influential singer, 30 recalled the love, gifts and thoughts he received from fans when the tragic news hit his family some 5 months ago.

Musing on the moment that led him to take a social media break and the journey to healing, he revealed that there was “A time to Speak and A time for Silence” hence his apparent silence.

“There is a time for everything. A time to Grieve and a time to Heal.A time to Laugh and a time to Dance. A time to Speak and A time for Silence. Thank you to everyone out there for your love and support that has held me down,” Davido said in his Instagram post.

“Thank you to everyone out there for your love and support that has held me down,” Davido continued in his emotional letter to fans “All the love and messages while I was away, the gifts sent, the concerts you all threw! I appreciate it all”

The father of three added “Today, I want to remind you all that what is now Timeless, was once new. It’s time for new”

He also used the opportunity to announce his new album scheduled for March 31, “today, I want to remind you all that what is now Timeless, was once new. It’s time for new. My next album TIMELESS is here, March 31st. Pre-save link in bio”.

The teaser video which has scored over 1.2 million likes on the social media site captures him from his early age to now and has a glimpse of his struggles during the tragic occurence.

Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke were thrown in a state of mourning on November 1, 2022 when a series of events led to the death of their son who was under the supervision of adult staff, a few days after his birthday.

According to the Lagos State Police Command, an autopsy done on the body of Ifeanyi showed that his death was caused by drowning. Two suspects who were arrested by the police are still under heavy investigation.
