Residents of Godenu and Wegbee in the Hohoe municipality in the Volta Region are accusing the police of causing destruction to several properties in their community following a clash with the security officers.
The residents claim that the police officers chased a gentleman suspected to be transporting Indian hemp, and got involved in an accident with the suspect.
The youth who thought the suspect was deliberately crushed to death, allegedly set the police vehicle ablaze, causing the police to also unleash violence upon the community.
The residents also accused the police of burning down motorbikes and smashing car windshields.
