I’m not the one to pass vote of no confidence in Mahama; his records speak for themselves – Duffuor

Former Finance Minister and NDC Flagbearership contender Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has sarcastically passed a vote of no confidence in former President John Mahama to be entrusted with leading the country again.

In an exclusive interview on TV3, the former Central Bank Governor questioned the competence of John Mahama to manage the Ghanaian economy, pointing to the dwindling economic indicators under his watch as President between 2012 and 2016 in comparison with figures under him as Finance Minister under the Mills administration between 2009 and 2012.

“The records are there. You are a Ghanaian. Look at the records; from 2009 to 2016. You want to have the figures? The figures speak for themselves not me,” Dr. Duffuor said.

“I’m talking about the figures on the ground. I’m not talking about the personality. Who was in charge? If you are happy with the figures, then you must ask as well, who was in charge? He did a good job? Look at the figures and speak to the figures.

“I cannot pass a vote of no confidence in him; the figures will speak for themselves. If the figures are terrible, then the figures are telling you that there was a failure somewhere,” he added.

Former President Mahama is seeking to lead the NDC again, into the 2024 elections, and his main challenger for this month’s NDC presidential primaries is Dr. Kwabena Duffuor. Former Kumasi mayor Kojo Bonsu is the third contender.

John Mahama has led the NDC to two successive election defeats – as incumbent President in 2016 and then in the 2020 elections.
