Day 2 of the round of 16 of The Sharks Quiz saw Ghana National College compete against Juaben SHS. Stephen, Rose, Serwaa and Foster represented Ghana National College whilst Juaben was represented by Papa Yaw, Felix, Maame and Nigel, with Mrs. Evelyn Agyapong both contests for the day in a rather calm atmosphere.

ROUND 1

Juaben started the contest with a correct score, a question centered around sports. So much so like the questions that followed, and on a high note, scoring all three first questions and passing the 5th, with an incorrect answer in between the last set; all in two minutes.

Ghana National also started on a rather low note with a correct answer, a past and two incorrect answers on a row, thus a hard one for the contestants. They had to re-strategize. Juaben led at the end of the first round.

ROUND 2

Ghana National College made a substitution with Prince coming in and continuously started the round with a question on idioms, correctly. Juaben followed getting their answer correct as well setting the platform for a round where both schools did not want to lose.

Both schools looked prepared for the round with a series of accurate answers and bonus snatching.

ROUND 3

Juaben came into this round with a substitution of Edward coming in. Attempting the first question was Juaben but was marked incorrect whilst Ghana National failed to pick it up for a bonus. Both teams put in their all and the round ended with Ghana National giving out a correct answer after a series of failed attempts from both schools.

ROUND 4

All contestants failed to answer a question in the English, Maths, Science and General Knowledge round. With such a low outcome it sealed off the contest with more room for improvement for Ghana National College who won the contest.

Second contest for Day 2 of the Sharks Quiz saw KNUST SHS up against a side which would prove to be a challenge. The contest was fiercely competitive and fun to watch by all with both set of contestants proving their mental prowess in all areas of academic endeavors.

Achimota was represented by Stephen, Selassie, Frederick and Brown whereas the Kumasi-based KNUST SHS was represented by George, Michael, John and Michael.

ROUND 1

Achimota started this round in a frenzy getting their first question correct and scoring the first points of the contest, but paused with 3 passes and another correct answer. The boys looked so poised in this round, returning to their passed questions to answer three of them correctly and one wrongly.

KNUST SHS on the other hand, started the round on a rather low note, with two incorrect answers and right one in between. They also passed a series of questions but returned to answer them correctly.

ROUND 2

This round was filled with excitements and anxieties as both schools went head-to-head to lead using a strategy. KNUST started again on a low note with an incorrect answer with Achimota starting with a correct answer, a bonus putting on course to extending the lead from the first round with another correct answer from their main question.

KNUST answered their major question correctly, thus starting a rampage comeback that went full ahead into the end of the contest.

ROUND 3

This was a good round for KNUST. The boys from Kumasi answered questions back-to-back, snatching points and making good use of the strategy they devised earlier. Achimota School scored no points in this round which indeed set them back.

ROUND 4

Frederick and Boateng came up against each other, with Boateng on a strong composure answering the first question correctly, whilst both answered the questions incorrectly.

Michael answered a Math question correctly afterwards with the next Math going unanswered.

Stephen and Selassie came up with wrong answers throughout in the Science section.

Nana Yaw and Abraham ended the round with general answers as Nana Yaw of KNUST took over with an accurate answer to the first question. Both could not answer the final question but it was too late for Achimota as KNUST had taken a major point gap at the end.

The day’s contests proved to be exciting with lows, highs, expectations degenerated, amplified and joys from the studios. Congratulations to KNUST SHS and Ghana National College for qualifying to the Quarter Finals of the Sharks Quiz season 6.
